Keep drinks hot and liquids contained
I love this set of 5 silicon lids. They form a good seal on mugs, glasses, bowls, and other items of any shape or material--as long as the surface is non-porous--and the lids can withstand up to 480 degrees F (dishwasher, microwave, oven, but not open flame). (Similar lids withstand @ 240 degrees F and come in sets of 4 for same or more money). If no seal is desired, these lids can even be used to cover porous materials, such as unglazed pottery. Surprisingly, they can even be used with items with a larger opening than the lid diameter because the lid can adhere to the inside walls. They work effortlessly. Just place the lid on the top of the cup, glass, small bowl, or whatever and push down with one finger and it seals. I used these lids on round- and octogon-shaped glasses and ceramic, porcelain, plastic (hard plastic and disposable cups) and polycarbobate with equal success. To use on glasses that are larger than the lid, push the lid down into the glass and make a seal with the sides of the glass. I could lift the cup by only the lid handle. The "seal" is broken by lifting the edge of the lid and it releases easily. They worked wonderfully at keeping my drink hot!I like the design of the lid handle, as it is seamless and no-nonsense. Many similar lid handles are cute, but I think bacteria will get caught in them. Also the handles not made of silicon will likely crack, break, or fall off over time. These lids can be simply rinsed and put in the dishwasher, and the slicon does not absorb tastes or smells. The colors are bright and vibrant, but not distasteful, and are true to the picture. I love the garden green, soft pink, and yellow (the set also includes red and blue). Each lid arrived individually wrapped in a nice cellophane-ish wrapping, so you could feel comfortable giving these individually as part of a gift bag/basket (and they will stay clean/"sterile").HINT: The lid can also function as a makeshift tea bag holder or spoon rest when turned upside down. In a real pinch, it could be used to squeeze out the tea bag.

Cuter than should be possible!
These are truly beautiful! The way the butterflies' wings move is a loveliness in and of itself. In fairness, I have not fully experimented with these on various types of containers. The one I needed them for doesn't really work with them... but I think that's an "it" thing, not a "them" thing. I kept them because they are so cute, and I will experiment with them on other cups, bowls, saucers, etc.

A Necessity For Steeping Tea & For Insect Paranoia!
These are lovely silicone cup lids. I love the colors, and they work exactly as advertised. Now I can keep my herbal tea hot for a much longer period of time, and having this airtight suction allows the herbs to steep properly.I have a large double wall borosilicate glass mug that I LOVE. Because the opening is so wide, these lids fit just right... meaning, if it was any wider, it wouldn't work right. These butterflies are so cute, and I love the fact that they can be switched in and out for cool color combinations. The silicone material is very flexible yet durable, and it gets the job done. These cup covers are especially great for anyone who has been stung on their lip by drinking a Coke that had a bee inside it on Field Day and had to go to the E.R. because of the intense swelling. No? Not you? Okay, fine, so it happened to me as a kid, and ever since, I've been paranoid about drinking from open cups, bottles, bowls, mugs, and cans... funny enough, I feel a great sense of security using these silicone butterfly cup lids. Here's a warning: These lids easily and surprisingly create a very strong suction around the rim of a cup. So if you mindlessly try to pick the lid up off the cup, the cup may come up with it, and possibly fall off part way.Every time you remove the suction, do so carefully so nothing spills or falls and breaks. Also, the underside of each lid will create condensation from the hot liquid in the mug.So it will be dripping a little bit when you remove it. It helps to have a little plate or bowl or at least a paper towel placed down so you have somewhere to put the lid while you sip your deliciously piping hot beverage of the day.Otherwise, these butterfly lids are ggrrrrrreat! It's absolutely a must-have for any tea or hot chocolate or coffee lovers. Specifically for those who steep tea bags, this lid was made for you!I've actually never properly steeped a teabag until now, and it really does make a difference.I don't really know how I survived without these things. I've literally spent most of my life covering open drinks with things like coasters, pamphlets, and other equally silly things. Especially when you're outside in the summer, the insects love to sip whatever you're sipping. So you better get these fast!

Fabulous hostess gift
I have over the years purchased likely 10 sets of theses covers. I have given them as gifts in Europe, the US and Canada. They are always a hit. I have used my set for years, they do not seem to wear and still draw positive comments. You cannot go wrong in giving these for either a hostess gift or birthday gift. Good price and high quality.
