Smart and boils fast
This is a good size even for a family. I think 1 litre is right and 1.7l is just too big. Boils very fast

Very Attractive Kettle
This is a beautifully designed product. The kettle is well made, and feels reassuringly heavy in the hand, without being cumbersome. In fact, it is beautfully balanced and a joy to hold. The shape is quite 'dumpy' and the capacity, although less than most mainstream kettles, is still easily sufficient for a couple or a small family. The glass is marked with the number of cups on one side, and the capacity (in litres) on the other. It's quite fast to boil, with a 2.4kW rating, helped no doubt by the smaller capacity, which is one litre exactly. The brushed stainless steel and glass combo looks great on the kitchen worktop, and the noise level whilst boiling is not too high. All in all, I am pleased with my purchase, and would certainly recommend this Sage kettle.

Excellent Product
Updated (Jun-20):Stil very pleased with the kettle. One thing of note is that if you live in a hard water area then you will probably encounter a problem with the lid not always opening in response to pressing the button. This arises from limescale deposits building up around the rim, thereby impeding the lid from lifting. Just need to clean around that rim to remove that limescale. Not an issue any more than having to descale on a regular basis.Purchased this to replace a Russell Hobbs Glass Touch Kettle which we had for a few years and which always had the annoying habit whereby the lid would pop up for no reason (other times it would go though phases of being difficult to open) and had recently started playing up with inability to set a temperature using the touch settings. This Sage / Heston kettle looks great and is well engineered, quiet as well. The fact that you have to press a button to select temperature suggests we won't have the issue with setting the temperature. Overall, very pleased, especially with the Xmas price reduction.

This is easily the best kettle I have ever owned, I just hope it lasts a long time.

Not As Elegant As The Compact Version But Still A Beautiful Kettle
To replace our ageing Dualit kettle which had cracked plastic windows and unsightly limescale build up and had become difficult to clean because it sits adjacent to our induction hob and gets splashed with cooking oils, etc. so we set about choosing a replacement. We have a stainless steel aesthetic going on in our kitchen with a stainless steel Panasonic microwave, stainless steel Francis Francis X1 espresso maker, stainless steel Sage coffee grinder, stainless steel Dualit classic two slot toaster and finally a stainless steel Wesco pushboy waste bin. The only labour saving device not finished in stainless steel is an Empire Red Kitchen aid mixer. We initially ordered the compact version [BKE395UK] which only boils 1 litre (4 cups) and it was lovely but my wife decided it was too small for some duties such as boiling water for a pan of pasta, etc. so we sent it back and bought this larger version. It does boil rather fiercely - check out a segment of the boiling sequence in the attached video. The lovely soft open mechanism is a hallmark of quality engineering. We like it but is it worth nearly £100? Probably not and there are a great many really lovely designer kettles on the market today, some more expensive than this so choose and purchase carefully. We also considered the Smeg kettle but it wasn't available in a colour that matched anything else in our kitchen, the Kitchen Aid kettle to match our Kitchen Aid mixer and the Dualit kettle to match our classic two slot toaster before settling on this BKE750CLR model. The idea behind the glass body was that it would be easier to clean than a fully stainless steel kettle.

The best kettle i could find.
I wanted the best kettle I could find, and this is what I got, and am very happy with it.The keep warm feature is a nice touch. The buttons are simple and work well. With lights around the buttons for easy clarity of what the kettle is doing.Beeps when kettle boils which is handy. The spout is wider than usual so pours faster when wanted, and the pour is perfect. With see through sections on both sides and top.The top opens slowly.. a little bit slower than i'd prefer, but it's acceptable, and preferable to opening too fast..I love the chrome finish.. matches my sage coffee machine (awesome) and sage grinder very well.. think i'm going to have to buy their toaster now too!A premium kettle by a premium company.. great job again Sage!Room for improvement:Current temperature reading.Eta to readyFaster lid opening.
