OK Sound, Solid Quaility for a Throw Away Speaker
After reading the reviews we hesitantly bought them to try them out. From the very first use we noticed the speakers could not handle any real bass, making the woofer pop constantly when listening to anything like Pop or Funk. We hooked the wireless receiver to everything from Satellite Radio to the TV to IPods, Droids - whatever we wanted in the back yard. Your not going to get Bose sound out of these. Remember, these are wireless, 900mhz speakers. So, every time a neighbors phone rings, it seems to ring in the speaker or block it out. After the first year of use, one of the input jacks for the electric adapter melted in the sun, which is when you find out these speakers are made like a tank. It took us an hour to removed the screws and got off sealant used before we could fix the plug. It eventually broke again. The second speaker, lasted a year longer and started cutting out. It would play for a few minutes, and then turn off. It sounds like another issue with the power, but we've given up.The Pros - Easy to use - Just turn it on and it finds the signal. They have about a 100 foot range and once connected, stay connected to the source. The battery lasts about 7 hours or so of continuous play. They blend well into the landscape. Two of these will fill a 1/2 acre yard with decent sound and are great for parties. The Cons - Not good bass response. They cut out with a cordless phone and sometimes require a manual switching of the channel. Speakers seem to die (as many have said) after a few years. You get what you pay for. We are looking for the next set of speakers for our yard and may go with in the ground Bose speakers, hard wired.

Built Well and Works in Showers too!
Believe it or not I'm using these to provide sound in a shower for a bathroom TV! The shower enclosure has glass walls and a downpour-type shower head by Grohe that makes a lot of hissing/splashing noise so the TV (located outside the shower enclosure) is hard to hear even if it's turned all the way up. So I hit on the idea of placing one of these speakers on the ledge in the shower so I can hear the TV while watching it through the glass. I connected the transmitter to my DirectTV receiver using one of the several adapters that come with the system. Anyways, I just use one speaker at a time, but they are very-substantially built and pretty heavy. I've been using for about a week and a half for two showers a day. The speakers have rechargeable lead-acid batteries, and so far the initial charge is holding up although I only use one of the speakers for a short period each time. I think the volume level is great and the controls on the speaker are easy to use and waterproof. The speakers appear pretty waterproof with downward-angled speaker holes to deter water from entering. The speaker gets splashed every time I shower -- however I try not to deluge it directly under the spray (the instructions say not to leave out under a downpour). Sound quality is OK, about what you should expect for a wireless-type speaker except I think the bass response is actually pretty good, with the mid and upper range response being just OK. However, given how easy they are to use I think they would probably be great for quick and easy outdoor speaker setup in your yard -- especially for playing background music. As I said, adequate sound volume is no problem -- they can be turned up pretty loud. What I'm not sure about is how long they will hold a charge, and how long the overall battery life will be (before the batteries won't take a new charge at all). However, the speakers DO also run off a supplied AC adapter, so you can power them this way if they are near an outlet. I also noticed that the speakers have four screws underneath to remove the bottom panel for accessing the internals -- so I'm guessing you can replace the batteries but I haven't opened them up to see. For my installation, radio interference hasn't been a problem, although I think this is situation dependent -- there are two radio channels so you can try switching to the alternate channel if you have an interference problem. From the looks of it, the speakers should also be paintable -- in fact, they are dark gray color, and I may spray paint mine to light brown to more closely match the shower granite. Finally, I got this whole package from Amazon on sale for $99 -- which I think is a no-brainer at this price. However, even at the higher normal price around $150 I think they would be a good buy if you want to easily add some background music to your yard.

Batteries lasted 4 months, disappointed to see lead acid batteries inside
I purchased these from Amazon in July 2013 and they lasted about 4 months before the "rechargeable" batteries gave up the ghost. They sat for a few weeks as I wondered what to do about them, they would not stay on for more than 2 seconds and would not function even if they were plugged in.Since I did not have the box they came in I was not sure I could return them. So I decided to open them up and see what was wrong with them. I was really disappointed to see they have lead acid "rechargeable" batteries in them. My only guess as to how mine stopped functioning was due to my not keeping them plugged in all the time and the batteries going completely dead. Lead Acid batteries do not like to be discharged completely over and over again. A lithium battery would have been better suited for this application in my opinion. So I removed the batteries and rewired my units so they will function without a battery in them but have to be plugged in. At least they work now. Where I place them on my patio there is a power source so I am happy.I am thinking of replacing the lead acid batteries with some 12V lithium Ion batteries this winter. I would urge the manufacturer to consider this as an option, I would spend more for the better battery technology. Especially in an application like this one.

Great product, great gift!
I bought this product as a gift for my parents last spring. They were not only impressed, but have all their friends wanting one too. I should start by saying that my parents are not the most mechanically inclined people in the world and I don't live close, so I was a bit worried that they would be intimidated by the set-up. Not at all - they were able to set-up the speaker and wireless system on their own and without a hitch. They use the system with their MP3 player and their CD stereo system. I had been hearing rave reviews from my parents and their friends and this summer, while visiting, I was able to see and hear for myself. The rock itself is a bigger than I thought but it's not heavy and it's an attractive design. The range, sound and volume was very impressive and more than you would need for backyard enjoyment and entertaining. It's very portable which makes it easy to bring to their summer home on the week-ends. I would highly recommend this product!!
