Very smart and chic
Purchased as a gift for my sister in law who has fairly unruly hair - she seems delighted with them. I was disappointed that the box was damaged on delivery as it is a gift but the product inside seems fine. They look really smart and chic - very pleased indeed. :) Purchased on the strength of previous reviews and really good value for money.

Not quite enough .....
Having recently bought the Braun Satin Hair 7 BR170 Iontec Brush and been pretty impressed with the results, when the dryer came up on the lightning deals a week later, it would've been rude not to, not only that but it would also have been rude not to "complete the set" when these matching straighteners came up a day or so later! ;)I have to say of all of the three, this is the lowest rating. As with the brush and dryer, the RRP of these is pretty high but again on a lightning deal, bargain price. I was hoping to be able to use a pair of straighteners on less than highest setting to tame my mad frizzy and somewhat brittle hair and therein lies the major disappointment, I still need to use the highest setting to get the results I want.At this point I will say that I was hoping to be able to replace my trusty old GHD IV's with these, I don't think I can but perhaps it's just a case of getting used to them. I've had my GHDs for several years and they are the best I've used and that's not a "brand" thing. I baulked at paying that much but considering the cheaper ones I'd gone through prior to getting them, they've paid for themselves over the years. My GHDs fit well in the hand, smooth and slim, solid feeling and they heat up really quickly. The down side of them is, no control over the heat and boy do they get hot, I have actually burnt my fingers on my hair before! That kind of heat just can't be good? These Braun Satin Hair ST710 Iontec straighteners could be soooo much better if the design were changed slightly. They have quite small buttons to control some of the settings which I found a little fiddly. The feeling of them in the hand is ....awkward! I found them to feel bulky with bumps and ridges in the wrong places and yet they felt flimsy at the same time...very difficult to describe how they sit in the hand other than awkwardly. There is a contoured ridge, presumably to rest your thumb against near start of the heating plate, so about halfway along, I found that it was right in the place where my thumb actually wanted to be to sit right in my hand to apply pressure to the straighteners when holding them closed on the hair. I can't 100% explain how I felt about them other than "awkward and uncomfortable and thinking I was going to break them when the plastic used to make them seemed to flex in my grip" On the plus side, they heat up very, very quickly with the digital display allowing you to see exactly what's going on with them, very modern and nifty looking. The Iontec comes into force once again, leaving my hair feeling soft even if not 100% straightened to my liking. Now, there are arguments I suppose for less heat, less damage to hair BUT if less heat means going over the same hair several times to achieve the same effect as once with higher temp, which is actually doing more damage? This is what I found, I started off at the lower setting of 170 degrees, nothing...it was only once I hit maximum setting of 200 did I actually feel that my hair was not only straightening but staying straight :o/Overall I was disappointed with these straighteners in terms of design and ability. Perhaps I've been spoiled with having my reassuringly "works first time, every time" GHDs? I will, however, continue to use these in the hopes that it's just a knack or a getting used to thing simply because of the damage I fear the GHDs may be doing to my already fragile hair but I think for those times that I need to know my hair is going to get done quickly and what's more stay done after an hour or so out of the house, I'll go with my old faithfuls for the time being. For the £22 I paid for these in the lightning deals, it's not a major disappointment but it is a slight disappointment all the same given my liking for the other two products from this range.

Good Straighteners
These are light, manageable and easy to use. They heat up quickly and straighten effectively.

Arrived faulty
Extremely disappointed with these as they make a very loud buzzing/vibrating sound (which I found very concerning). I'm currently trying to return them however having great difficulty reasoning with the seller as they want them returned in 'unused, unopened' condition which is obviously not possible as I had to open and use them to realise they were faulty!
