I bought this book as the textbook for a class through Coursera that teaches how to build web based applications. As a beginner, this book is useful.

As the title says, this is an introduction to ...
As the title says, this is an introduction to web development, therefore an in-depth look and references for every aspect of HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc will have to be found elsewhere. What this book excels at is introducing everything in easy-to-read chapters, with example code snippets, and links for further reference and learning. Color printing also raises it slightly above other texts of this calibre.
